Here at Reimels Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, we are very skilled in what we do and that’s why we are one of the best dental offices in Huntersville, North Carolina. Here are some options you can do to fix your chipped tooth.

Fixing a Chipped Tooth

The enamel that covers your teeth is one of the hardest tissues in your body, but its strength has its limits. Falling, getting punched in the face, or chewing on something hard can lead your tooth to break or get chipped. The number one rule when you have a chipped tooth is to not panic, because we are here to help you. Here are a few options that we can do to fix your chipped tooth.

·        Filling – When you come into the office with just a little piece of your tooth missing, we can repair it with a filling.

·        Bonding – If the chipped tooth is in the front to where it can be seen we will use dental bonding to repair it. Dental bonding is a very simple procedure that will not require any numbing. The bonding material will look just like your tooth and you can be in and out of the office in about an hour.

·        Crown or a cap – If a large portion of your tooth have been broken off and if the tooth has a lot of decay in it, we will grind or file part of the tooth that is left and we will cover it with a crown or a cap that is shaped like a tooth. Crowns can be made from metal, porcelain fused to metal, resin, or ceramic. The stronger one is all the metal ones and the ones that look just like your tooth are the porcelain and resin crowns.

·        Veneers – if the front part of your tooth has been chipped, we suggest that you use a veneer. It will make your tooth look healthy again. A veneer is a very thin shell that covers the part of your tooth that has been chipped away.
